Problem: "Not supported" server error message when running a CGI program

This article applies to any CGI program running on Microsoft IIS.

Problem

    Server error saying "not supported" when you try to run a CGI program.

Details

    If you get an error saying "Not Supported" then you haven't mapped your scripts directory correctly, or you haven't checked the Execute Permissions box, or you haven't set the file permissions correctly.

Solution

    Follow the instructions that came with your web server to set the file permissions, user accounts, and script directory execute permissions.
