Problem: GWXMail error 0x800FFFF (or other) using REGSVR32

This article applies to GWXMail.

Last Updated: 6 September 2006

Problem

When you run regsvr32 with GWXMail to register it, you may get error 0x800FFFF or a generic message saying the registration failed.

Details

Microsoft's REGSVR32.EXE program is used to register all Active X server components. If you don't have the most recent version of regsvr32.exe, or don't have all the correct support files to go with it, you may not be able to register your Active X component.

Solution

Search your hard drive to make sure you only have one copy of regsvr32.exe. If you have more than one, delete all but the most recent.

Check Microsoft's site for a newer regsvr32.exe, especially if you are not using IIS 4.x, or haven't applied the IIS 4.x service pack.

Make sure you have version 05.00.4319(SP2) of MSVBVM50.DLL on your system. If you need this file, you may download it from here or from Microsoft.
