Problem: Detour Service occasionally stops responding, especially under load
This article applies to Detour Service.
Last Updated: 16 August 2003
Problem
The Detour Service occasionally stops forwarding traffic, especially under heavy loads.
Details
Each defined Detour has a Security option to protect against Denial-of-Service (DoS) attacks. This option is on by default. If the server receives more requests in one second than the limit specified, the service will stop responding to requests for the period of time specified.
This behavior is by design.
Solution
The DoS settings can be changed by editing the Detour and clicking the Security button.
Adjust the DoS limits to more accurately reflect your traffic levels, or if you are not concerned about DoS, then you may disable the feature entirely by unchecking the DoS Protection Enabled checkbox.
